Reusing Empty Tissue Boxes

Bills stacking up. Kids crayons, markers, paints and brushes strewn all over the place. Garden seeds, small hand tools, garden gloves laying piled on a shelf. The 'everything drawer', that has everything....but you just can't find anything in it. Small household hand tools that are well... Probably in that everything drawer, someplace.

All these and more can be organized quickly by grabbing an empty tissue box. These some in especially handy when in a child's room. Again, another thing most of us probably just toss into the garbage without thinking about it. Nothing wrong with that because let's face it, you CAN have far too much 'stuff' in the house (my mother is living proof of this).

Tissue boxes are quite versatile though. Think about it. They're compact. Come in a lot of different shapes and sizes (I love the new ovular ones put out by the Kleenex company). They can be stacked (regardless of the shape or size). They're already made of partially recycled materials when you buy them, so when you're done with using them, you can... Recycle them again! (a super cool feature). Most of the boxes from Scott, Puffs and Kleenex you can use Sharpie pens on for labelling purposes, AND...if you've got kittens running around the house, the economy sized boxes come in quite handy as a means of herding kittens back to their mama! (I've done this... Works like a charm)

Some more things empty Kleenex boxes can be used for:

1. Storing fragile holiday ornaments (be sure to wrap them well in tissue or bubble wrap first).
2. Sorting nuts, bolts, screws, nails, picture hooks, etc.
3. Storing smaller length extension cords. (works best with 10 foot cords, or less)
4. Storing smaller computer parts, wires and cords
5. Storing small kitchen gadgets (like that turkey thermometer you use only once or twice a year)
6. Safe packing material for when/if you move (wrap items in tissue or bubble wrap first)
7. Organizing smaller automotive repair parts (this is especially handy for socket set parts)
8. Storing candles (wrap in wax paper first)
9. Organizing bills
10. Storing small sample or travel sized items
11. Sorting out (and organizing) photographs
12. Holding small office supplies (paper clips, erasers, staple removers, etc)
13. Make shift cosmetic box
14. Hair supplies holder/organizer (scrunchies, clips, small brushes, combs, etc)
15. Organizing cleaning supplies (one for silver polish, one for furniture polish....including the rags)
16. Sorting 'good' rags from 'garage' rags.
17. Map holder for your vehicle (comes in handy when your glove and console boxes are crammed)
18. Battery storage box (so you don't accidentally mis-place that last 9v battery you need)
19. Organizing craft supplies
20. Use one as a miniature table/counter top trash bin.

This list can be nearly endless (so it would seem). So the next time you empty out a tissue box, take a quick moment to think about what you might be able to use it for around the house. You might just give yourself a very wonderful surprise!
